Good news for those worrying about getting prescriptions.

Boots Pharmacy provide free delivery of prescriptions to over 70s and the vulnerable.

I believe there is a delivery charge of £5 in other cases.

Boots state:

To make sure that medicines are available to everybody, we are waiving the delivery fee on prescriptions to over 70s and our vulnerable patients.

If you order your repeat prescriptions online, most GP surgeries will send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.

I'll try this on 31 March when my next prescription order is due and report back here. It takes 5 days for delivery.

Meanwhile, if you have success with this please post here.

The government web advice states:

You might be able to order repeat prescriptions by phone, or online using an app or website if your doctor’s surgery offers this.

I phoned Boots Pharmacy in Dorchester this morning to check the procedure.

This is what the pharmacist told me:

If you order your repeat prescription online make Boots your pharmacy of choice.

The surgery will send your prescription to Boots.

Phone Boots pharmacy after 5 days to check that they have the prescriotion and the items to fullfil it.

The prescription will be delivered to you a day or two after that.

If you are not set up for online ordering then I suggest that you phone your surgery and ask if they can send your prescription to Boots or another pharmacy of your choice which you know is offering this service of free delivery of prescriptions to over 70s and the vulnerable.
